Snow leopard

It is a mammal.
It is the most beautiful cat.
It is an exceptionnal athlete : it can jump over ravines.
It can also attack preys almost three times his own size.
It can live for 21 years .
The body is 100-130 cm long. The tail is 80-100 cm long. The shoulder is 60 cm tall.The male is 45-55 kg. The female is 35-40 kg.
The snow leopard has smoky grey fur, a long tail, short legs and broad, furry paws that act snow shoes.
The snow leopard lives in Central Asia from Afghanistan to Lake Baikaland, Tibet.
It lives in mountain steppes and coniferous forests at altitudes from 2000-6000 m.
It is an opportunistic predator. It feeds on marmots, musk deers, pika, hares, birds and domestic livestock.
The snow leopard is crepuscular.It is active at down and dusk. It is solitary.
It mates between December and March and after 98-104 days of gestation, famales give birth to one to five cubs (usually two or three). The cubs stay with their mothers for at least a year.
The snow leopard is listed as Endangered due to hunting for his fur. It is protected but it is still hunted illegally.
